Dougies Backpackers Resort

Stayed at Dougies years ago an it was fun had a good time but not this time I stayed there 3 weeks ago, Was so so disappointed, paid for 3 pitches for three campers that were essentially carparks on a dirty patch behind the hostel, It's not acceptable honestly guys, Then my friends an I went into the bar for a few drinks to play pool listen to music etc, It was cut short because of the extremely hostile an rude staff that were off duty. Had our money pushed away and ignored to play pool all night bye the off duty staff we had put songs on to have them instantly changed, Just want to say to Jessie the supposed manager the way you acted an treated paying customers was not professional at all plus hostility directed to the other people was not called for, Sorry had my rant of a review had to do it just was not a good experience will not stay there again thanks,

One of the most unique hostels I‘ve ever been! Stayed more than 3 months in one of their tents, such a nice experience in the middle of the nature! The staff always was friendly, super helpful and full of effort. The beautiful 4MilesBeach was close by, into town it took me around 5 mins by bike. Always a good vibe there, felt like family. Everything nicely planted with palm trees. The facilities sometimes could have been a bit cleaner but because of everything else I didn‘t really care. Thank you for everything, Dougies! 💕👑

Extremely disappointed. Passed by dougies on the way up to cairns but couldn't stay and were Extremely excited to stop and stay on the way back down and celebrate our sisters birthday. Unfortunately we were charged an Extremely high rate which we didn't mind paying until we found out that our spot was in the parking lot with the rubbish tips outback. We decided it would be fine as we wanted to spend the night since the pool area and the bar appeared to be a good atmosphere. We went to the bar later on in the evening and were enjoying ourselves until we reserved the pool table and were told we weren't aloud to play as it was reserved for staffs night out who kept hogging the table and using our coins. Every time we asked politely if it was our turn yet we were told no. We requested a couple of songs which were immediately skipped and recieved dirty stares from the staff all evening. Big shout out to the drunk manager who claimed to be on shift, jessy. Thanks for an evening we won't forget. The worst backpackers place I've stayed, unsociable and Extremely unprofessional.

Great value hostel, good facilities, excellent staff. The location it's useful if you work out of the town. You can walk 20 minutes and reach the town with the super market, banks and all the main stores. You have different kind of rooms, if you are a group I recommend the 4 people room, otherwise you have tents and bungalows. That options they are good of "privacy" but super hot in the warm season. The bar have great meals to choose, good music, and variety of beverages.

Dougies is a PARTY hostel with really good vibes. Every space is surrounded by NATURE which is really nice and gives the idea that is a bigger place. The rooms are SMALL and the BEDS not much comfortable but they are clean. Kitchen and bathrooms needs more cleanong during the day. The KITCHEN is SMALL, MESSY and the system for storaging food is a DISASTER. Apart from that, it is noticeable that they put a lot of energy to sell a comfortable experience there. The BAR, pool table, dards, DJs and whole week ACTIVITIES speaks for themselves.

Very chill vibe. Pool table and cheap food and drinks at the bar open late. A little bit of a walk to the town but it's worth it. Nice jungle style and a swimming pool too. We stayed in a tent, it's a bit of a strange set up with 2 rooms and a zip divider in the middle with no way to seal it shut. There's so many places to visit around port Douglas, we wished we could have stayed longer! Ps wavelength cruises for reef tour!
